How Long Does It Take to Learn Hypnosis?

Question:

How quickly can someone learn hypnosis?

Answer:

It all depends on what you mean by ‘learn’.

If you just want to perform a quick relaxation induction, and you aren’t worried about the hows and whys of hypnosis, about five or ten minutes. If you want a slightly deeper understanding and to have a little practice, a week or two. To have a basic understanding of what you doing and what to do when things don’t go wrong, a few months to a year. And to perform hypnotherapy, a year to a decade (or better still for the rest of your life as there are always things to learn). This of course assumes you are diligent in your studies and have a good trainer (just because somebody offers a certificate of training does not mean they are a good trainer).

I’m also assuming you are asking about learning hetero-hypnosis on others, if you are meaning going into the state yourself, no time at all, it happens dozens of times a day naturally, often without us even noticing.
