Question:
Why can’t I be hypnotised?
Answer:
You almost certainly can.
The thing that makes many people think they can’t be hypnotised is because they think hypnosis is something it isn’t. How it is portrayed in movies and on TV shows is not at all how it actually is in reality. Under hypnosis you are not a mindless automaton with a completely blank mind. In reality your mind isn’t only still present, but it’s highly focused on whatever the current task at hand is. Also, how did you try? Was it with a well-trained professional, or did you just listen to a random recording you found on the internet? Although the latter can help some people, they are the lowest form of hypnotherapy and have the highest percentage of failures (these recordings are less personalized and therefore less effective than working with a professional). A professional hypnotherapist will not only create an induction around your personal needs, they will also cover what you should and shouldn’t expect in their pre-talk. Hypnosis is a natural state we go into and out of many times a day, every day (getting lost in a book or a movie for example).
So in reality, you probably can be hypnotised. With the right guidance, most people find they can be hypnotized.
